PIA likely to suspend Karachi to Mumbai flights due to ‘economical reasons’

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is likely to suspend flight operations along the Karachi to Mumbai route, airline’s spokesperson Daniyal Gillani said on Friday.

“PIA is considering suspending flights from Karachi to Mumbai,” Daniyal said.

However, he said, a final decision is yet to be made on the matter.

In response to a question, Gilani said it was a purely commercial decision and had nothing to do with bilateral ties between both the countries.

Earlier, there were reports that flight operations were being curtailed due to the stringent bilateral relations between Islamabad and New Delhi. Relations between the two nuclear-armed nations have plummeted in recent months with the South Asian neighbours being engaged in a diplomatic tit-for-tat.
