Alvi Writes A Letter To CEC Apropos Polls’ Date

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi has written a letter to the CEC Sikandar Sultan Raja on Wednesday (13th of September, 2023) suggesting 6th November (2023) as the the General Elections day.

President Alvi citing Article 48(5) of the Constitution, claimed he had the authority and mandate to appoint a date not later than 90 days from the date of dissolution of Assemblies, for holding of a general election.

President went on to say that in terms of Article 48(5) the general election to the NA should be held by the eighty-ninth day of the date of dissolution of the National Assembly.

Earlier in the correspondence the President Alvi deemed it fit to remind that on 9th day of August, 2023 he had dissolved the NA on PM’s advice.
