LAHORE: British High Commissioner Jane Marriott called on newly-elected Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif here Friday (1st March, 2024) and held discussion on increasing scholarships for Punjab students in top British universities.
Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Chief Minister held: “We want to take Punjab into the modern age of digitalization and British institutions will provide possible facilities for the establishment of IT University in the province.”
Maryam Nawaz informed the High Commissioner about the project of IT Park in Punjab, especially in the Walled City, and announced that the project of IT, Twin Towers here would commence soon.
The duo also discussed the exchange of air quality index, technology for addressing issues of climate change and environmental pollution.
On this occasion, the British High Commissioner congratulated Maryam Nawaz Sharif on becoming the first woman Chief Minister of Punjab and extended her best wishes.
