PARIS: A court here has incarcerated 29-year-old Pakistani Zaheer Mahmood, for thirty years for trying to kill two workers (he thought were employees of Charlie Hebdo) in 2020, with a meat cleaver when the caricatures of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) were republished by the magazine.
Attacker Zaheer Mahmood was unaware that Charlie Hebdo had moved to a secret location after twelve people were gunned down by Al-Qaeda militants following the original publication of the cartoons in 2015. Five other Pakistanis had also been incarcerated for supporting Zaheer Mahmood. According to sources Zaheer Mahmood, who was influenced by Khadim Hussain Rizvi’s preaching, entered France clandestinely sans papier in 2019.
