BEIJING: Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning, speaking to journalists during her regular briefing here on Thursday (11th April, 2024) stated that Palestine’s full UN membership was supported by her country that looked forward to speedy Council action.

It may be recalled that Palestine, that had submitted application of full UN membership back in 2011, has recently asked the UNSC to reconsider it. The Council that met on Monday (8th April, 2024) had referred the Palestinian plea to the Committee of Admission of New Members for its deliberation.

Mao Ning, advocating the establishment of an independent state of Palestine, maintained that the ongoing war, that had annihilated the infrastructure of Gaza, claiming thousands of lives, again manifest that the only way to end perpetually recurring conflicts was to fully implement the two-state solution.
