However, Consul General Danilo Giurdanella assured that a rendezvous would soon be arranged between H. E. Marilina Armellin and the karachiites as soon as possible.

Maintaining that there was a great interest for that partnership, Danilo Giurdanella stated: “I will tell you why.

“Because it is very representative of the way that Italy does business in Pakistan and the world over.

“This is not just a trade project. It is not just a sale. We don’t come here, we don’t go anywhere, to sell, to get our money and go back home.

“But, this is a partnership! This is a friendship! This is why things are working out! Because we are working as friends!”

“Italian cooperation with Pakistan, based on three pillars, has been increasing constantly.

“There is a political pillar.

“There is a political friendship between Italy and Pakistan because geo-politically we share many things.

“We take similar decisions in the international forums – at United Nations, for instance – but also the Indo-Pacific region”.

Speaking about cultural pillar the Consul General told that a community, consisting of some 300,000 Pakistanis, was living in Italy: “They are very hard working people and contribute to our industrial production.

“All these pillars go together hand in hand because the political friendship and the cultural friendship contribute to the economic partnership.”

Informing that last year the total volume of trade between Italy and Pakistan amounted to US$ two billion, he said that it was constantly increasing and there was a trade potential of US$ five billion.

“And I am sure that, with the help of our new Trade Commissioner (Salvatore Parano), Inshallah we will double that number”, said Consul General Danilo Giurdanella.

Italian Trade Commissioner in Pakistan, Salvatore Parano, speaking on the occasion said:“I have the privilege to represent Italian Trade Commission here in Pakistan. And the job that Italian Trade Commissioner has to perform is to be where the Italian companies are!”

He said he was proud to be there because they had an excellent company promoting technology… in Pakistan.

Informing that during the year 2022 Italy broke the record of US$700 billion exports, the Trade Commissioner held that they believed in export diversification strongly: “We support the export performance of Pakistan and the export diversification of the Pakistani economy.”

Salvatore Parano maintained: “This tremendous performance in exports is the result of many small, medium and large size companies like the one we are presenting today to you”.

Trade Commissioner said that thanks to many small, medium and large companies the Italians knew how to play the international game.

Terming catering to the customers as the essence, Salvatore Parano noted that customers could find many solutions in Italy

He informed that (unlike common belief): “The first source of export for Italian economy is technology, the second source for our export is technology, the 3rd is technology, the 4th is technology and then we have to go to the eighth place to find fashion(, food and furniture).”

Italian Trade Commissioner stated that Italy had the largest range of technology solutions that today’s world needed: “One will find serious companies with a history of focusing on the needs of the Pakistani customers,” Salvatore Parano pointed out.

Italy hosts more than 18,000 enterprises, ranking 1st among European countries by number of Machinery & Equipment companies.

The Italian industry also ranks 2nd in Europe by added value (€ 34 Billion), workforce and export value.

Italian machinery and mechatronics industry is 3rd in Europe by percentage of turnover (it accounts for 9% of national turnover with €251 Billion), and it generates an added value of € 70 billion and an export value of €148 billion.

On the bilateral front, there has been a constant growth in trade and commercial engagement between Italy and Pakistan.

Industry leaders from manufacturing sector, banking sectors and members of Italian business community were present at the event along with Gianmaria PECE- Director at FPT Industrial.

FPT is one of the largest companies in the powertrain sector and is now part of Iveco Group that produces powertrains for On-Road, Off-Road, Marine and Power Generation applications.
