COVID-19: Pakistan to get 17M doses of AstraZeneca vaccine

ISLAMABAD: The British High Commission here has proclaimed on 14th of February that Pakistan would get 17 million doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine before April.

Later before June Pakistan will receive an additional 10 million doses. The drug  is expected to protect some eight million people in Pakistan. It is 76% effective after which  a second dose, given after 12 weeks or more, the efficacy rises to 82%. Vaccine is made from a weakened version of a common cold virus. When the vaccine is injected into a human body, it forces immune system to make antibodies.
