Cricket T20 World Cup: Pakistan beats Afghanistan by 5 wickets

DUBAI: Afghanistan managed to score 147 runs in 20 overs at the cost of 6 wickets batting against the Green Shirts in the T20 World Cup Super 12 Group 2 Match here on Friday (29th of October, 2021). 

The Captain of the team Tweeted: “Alhumdulillah, 3/3!. Afghanistan fought well. A brilliant display of bowling from our team, especially Shaheen Shah Afridi and Imad. Fakhar was just remarkable and the awesome finish from Asif Ali was indeed the cherry on top. All eyes set on the next one!”

Imran Khan, former cricket skipper and present politician took to the Twitter to hold: “Congratulations Team Pakistan. Impressive cricket by Team Afghanistan. Never have I seen a cricketing nation rise as rapidly as Afghanistan in international cricket & become so competitive. With this competitive spirit & talent the future of cricket is bright in Afghanistan.”

Ramiz, while appreciating the marvelous batting by Asif Ali under pressure, stated: “asifyoubeauty incredible hitting under pressure. Sensational Clapping hands signClapping hands signCongrats boys keep up the good work. PakistanZindabad.”

Asif Ali scored an unbeatable 25 off 7 balls hitting 4 sixers steering the Green Shirts to victory. Babar Azam scored went back to pavilion after scoring 51. Mohammad Rizwan has been dismissed by Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb-ur-Rahman. Fakhar Zaman was dismissed by Mohammad Nabi he scored 30 runs. Pakistan’s second wicket fell when the team had scored 75. 5th Green shirt to be dismissed by Afghans was Shoaib Malik who scored 19.

Earlier Afghanistan Cricket team captain Mohammad Nabi won the toss and opted to bat first. Pakistan’s Iman Wasim and Shaheen Afridi dismissed the openers. Haris and Hasan Ali sent two more to the pavilion. Karim Janat’s scalp was taken by Imad Waseem. He only managed to muster fifteen runs up. Janat attempted to hit a six but was caught by Zaman. When Afghanistan managed to score 76 Shadab Khan dismissed Najibullah Zadran (his bat yielded 22 runs).
