Death toll from an explosion at an Indian thermal power plant climbs to 26

UTTAR PRADESH: According to sources the death toll from today’s  explosion at a thermal power plant here in the northern India has climbed to 26.

Sanjay Khatri, the area’s top administrative officer has informed that at least 60 others have been wounded when hot ash emitted fell over labors at the plant.

The accident occurred as a pipe exploded spewing ash from the burning coal. 

Sources insinuated that the death toll could increase as a dozen victims have been hospitalized with severe burns. 

The 500-megawatt unit was recently installed and operating on a trial basis.
