KARACHI: Commissioner of the Metropolis while talking to Newspakistan.tv has informed that fire that engulfed the three floors of a 14-storey building this morning here in Boat Basin area was caused by an electric short circuit.

Though there is no report of loss of life, the incendie has annihilated a number of businesses including Pizza Hut and Nandos outlets. The extent of losses is yet to be ascertain.

Eight fire-tenders managed to contain fire after many hours. The affectees, talking to Newspakistan.tv lamented the late arrival of KMC’s fire fighters.

It is pertinent to mention here that due to defective wiring such incidents are quite normal in the city. Just in the past month a number of fires have been reported from all over the city.

To make things worse due to commission-mafia the money meant to arm the concerned departments with adequate quality equipment is never spent appropriately.
