FM Shah Mehmood Qureshi meets US Sec of State Mike Pompeo

WASHINGTON: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi held a meeting with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo here on Friday 17th of January, 2020. 

Shah Mehmood Qureshi held that Pakistan was committed to play its due role in de-escalating prevailing tensions and promote peace in the Middle Eastern region.  Mike Pompeo and Shah Mehmood Qureshi exchanged views on matters pertaining to Pak-US bilateral cooperation, regional security situation, Afghan peace process, and Occupied Kashmir Issue.

FM stated that millions of Kashmiris had been besieged by means of curfew. He pointed towards ban imposed on Media by the GoI. He held that resolution of Kashmir dispute in accordance to the UN resolutions was necessary for peace in SA. He also stated Pakistan would continue its endeavors for political solution to Afghan conflict.

He also stressed on the need to strengthen bilateral trade and investment to materialize joint vision of PM Imran Khan and President Donald Trump. Shah Mehmood Qureshi also informed Pompeo about  his meetings with Iran and Saudi leaders. Marc Pompeo appreciated Pakistan’s  efforts for political solution of Afghan conflict.

FM stresses on people-to-people terms between Pak-US populace

CAPITOL HILL: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, while speaking at a ceremony hosted here today by Pakistan Caucus of US Congress, emphasized the significance of further strengthening Pak-US people-to-people and inter-parliamentary linkages.

Foreign Minister Qureshi held that Pakistan had always valued its partnership with the US. He also briefed members of Caucus on the latest situation in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and continuing Indian repression of the Kashmiri people.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi informed the Caucus about government of Pakistan’s vision for socio-economic progress and human development in the country as well as Pakistan’s efforts for regional peace and prosperity including facilitating peace in Afghanistan and defeating terrorism in the region.

Members of Pakistan Caucus lauded Pakistan’s invaluable contributions for peace and security in the region.

Taking to the Twitter Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi stated: “Met US Under Secretary of Defense John Rood to discuss defense cooperation, one of the imp features of Pak-US bilat relationship. US revival of Intl Military Education & Training (IMET) program w/ Pakistan is welcome first step in further reviving bilateral military co-op.”
