ISLAMABAD: H.E. Martine Dorance, Ambassador of France to Pakistan and Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman, Higher Education Commission (HEC), have signed a grant agreement of Euros 250,000 for the next phase of Needs Based Scholarship Program on Friday 11th November 2016 here at the Residence of France(Official Residence of French Envoy).
Since 2012, France has been offering hundreds of scholarships to promising underprivileged young people, hailing primarily from FATA, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan, to pursue their education in top universities of Pakistan.
These scholarships will focus on Bachelor degrees in the fields of Business Administration, Engineering, Information technology/Telecoms, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences.
The scholarships awards are designed to cover the complete cost of education during the entire academic program of all the recipients.
Over 75% of these grants are awarded to female students.
Signing ceremony was held earlier at the ‘Pakistan France Alumni Network’ (PFAN) annual gala dinner. Over a hundred pupils who had studied in France (most of them thanks to scholarships awarded through the HEC and the Government of France) converged there.
On this occasion Ambassador Dorance announced that a new network of Campus France information offices is presently being developed in all main cities of the country by the Agency responsible for studies in France. The first one is already functioning here in the Capital at Alliance Française de Islamabad.
