ISLAMABAD: Citing the augmentation of the prices of petroleum products due to closure of the Strait of Hormuz, because of the Iran-US War, Government has dropped yet another petrol bomb on the citizens of Pakistan on Friday (24th April, 2026).

For one week, ending 1st of May, citizens will pay Rs. 26.77 more for a liter of petrol/HSD after a 7.6 percent augmentation (i.e. Rs. 26.77). Cynics go haywire wondering why instead of reducing its taxes, Government of Pakistan had opted to burden the already suffering masses.
Savants at the helm of affairs claim that since the government failed to amass sufficient amount of taxes to satisfy IMF, it has chosen to further squeeze the poor. Tragically a poor man who owns Rs. 25,000/- worth of a motorcycle, pays as much as the rich driving a Rs. 100 million SUV for a liter of fuel.
Trump Warns Iran not to use small boats to attack US ships blocking the Strait of Hormuz. Donald Trump took to the Truth Social on 13th April, 2026 to proclaim the commencement of Blockade of Iranian ports: “So, there you have it, the meeting went well, most points were agreed to, but the only point that really mattered NUCLEAR, was not. Effective immediately, the United States Navy, the Finest in the World, will begin the process of BLOCKADING any and all Ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz.”
Continuation of Iran-US War means augmentation of oil prices the world over. Meanwhile, since its economy is dependent, to a certain extent, on the oil that reaches it through Hormuz, China warned the United States against reckless actions regarding Chinese interests in the Strait of Hormuz.
Chinese vessels continue to enter and exit the waters of the Strait of Hormuz: “We have trade and energy agreements with Iran, which we will respect and uphold. We expect others to understand that interfering in China’s affairs is futile,” China made it clear to those seeking adventurism.
