TEHRAN: Irani President Ebrahim Raisi, 64, died when the helicopter carrying him crashed on Sunday (19th May, 2024) due to inclement weather in the Azerbaijan’s region of Jolfa where he had earlier inaugurated a dam project with his Azeri counterpart Ilham Aliyev.
It may be recalled that due to meteorological conditions helicopter harboring Irani President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, Governor of East Azerbaijan province Malek Rahmati and other senior govt officials, suffered a hard landing here.

JOLFA: Though the Red Crescent of Iran had deployed forty rescue teams, dense fog restrained their movement and they reached the specific spot after much delay.

TEHRAN: The 68-year-old Mohammad Mokhber has filled in the presidential slot following the death of Raisi. According to the article 131 of Irani law the first vice president takes over if a president dies in office.
