ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Tuesday (2nd April, 2024) has strongly condemned the Israeli missile attack on the Consular Section of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus.

The Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch has offered profound condolences to the families of the victims, and the people and the Government of Iran.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps had announced the killing of Generals Mohammad Reza Zahedi and Mohammad Hadi Haj Rahimi and five of their companions in the missile attack by Israel on the Iranian diplomatic mission in Damascus.
“The attack is an unacceptable violation of the sovereignty of Syria and undermines its stability and security. It is a violation of international law and the UN Charter,” the spokesperson remarked.
She said that the attacks against diplomats or diplomatic facilities were also illegal under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961.
Mumtaz Zara Baloch noted that the act of the Israeli forces was a major escalation in an already volatile region.
“We call on the UN Security Council to prevent Israel from its adventurism in the region and its illegal acts attacking its neighbors and targeting foreign diplomatic facilities,” she added.
KSA:
Saudi Arabia stressed that targeting of diplomatic facilities for any justification, and under any pretext is a violation of international diplomatic laws and the rules of diplomatic immunity.
China:
Condemning the Israeli Missile attack on Irani diplomatic mission in Damascus, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin held: “The security of diplomatic institutions cannot be violated, and Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity should be respected.”
Iran:
President Ebrahim Raisi commenting on the the Israeli attack warned that Iran would retaliate (intelligently, in due time): “Having failed to destroy the will of the resistance front, the Zionist regime (Israel) has put blind assassinations back on its agenda to save itself.
“It must know that it will never achieve its goals and that this cowardly crime will not go unanswered.”
EU:
Taking to the X (Twitter) Chief of EU Josep Borrel held: “I condemn the attack and urge an investigation. Despite all the demands to protect civilians and humanitarian workers, we see new innocent casualties.”
