ISTANBUL: Three gunmen opened fire near the non-operational empty Israeli consulate general here on Tuesday (7 April, 2026).
Following a ten-minute exchange of fire, Police killed one and wounded the other two gunmen. A couple of cops too got injured in the shootout. LEA later nabbed 200 terrorists having links with the shooters. According to details the attackers arrived in a rented vehicle from the Kocaeli province, situated at 86 km from the Capital.
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Türkiye, while addressing the nation informed: “We’ve successfully thwarted a heinous terrorist attack…Three terrorists eliminated…Two heroic policemen mildly injured…I wish them speedy recovery… We will continue fighting every kind of terror decisively…We will not allow terror attacks to target the safety environment in Türkiye.”

Igal Malka posted a video saying: “Who didn’t see this coming? Erdogan’s Turkish anti-Semites are carrying out a terrorist attack on the Israeli consulate in Istanbul. Oh my, these Turks are so stupid, they attacked an empty consulate because all the Jews were out for Passover vacation. Three innocent bystanders were just murdered there.”

Pakistan Condemns Terrorist Attack in Istanbul
Attacks are not alien to the populace of Istanbul. For instance, on 4th of Feb, 2024 terrorists attacked the Courthouse Complex of the city. Pakistan strongly condemned the terrorist attack targeting the Courthouse complex in Istanbul.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the brotherly people and government of Turkiye and pray for the swift and complete recovery of those injured in this heinous attack. Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families,” the Foreign Office spokesperson said in a statement.
According to Turkish Media, two shooters attempting to attack a checkpoint outside a courthouse in Istanbul were captured dead: “Today, there has been an attempted terrorist attack at the security checkpoint in front of the C Gate of Caglayan Courthouse,” Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on X after the attack that left six people injured, including three police officers. The Foreign Office spokesperson also reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolute solidarity with Turkiye in its fight against the scourge of terrorism.
