ISLAMABAD: Recently appointed Italian Envoy H. E. Marilina Armellin called on Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Friday (10th May, 2024).
Mohsin Naqvi felicitated the Envoy on her appointment and wished her well for her tenure here. The duo also pondered over the proposal of declaring Milan and Islamabad as sister cities.
Ambassador Marilina Armellin, while acknowledging the endeavors of Mohsin Naqvi apropos combating unlawful immigration, assured of her complete support in this regard.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and the Italian diplomat agreed to sign an agreement in order to contain illicit entry of Pakistanis into Italy and to augment mutual cooperation in this regard.
The minister maintained that those involved in human trafficking would face imprisonment as well as hefty financial penalties. He directed the concerned authorities to finalize the agreement as soon as possible.
Naqvi, asserting that Pakistan had adopted a zero-tolerance policy against mafias involved in human trafficking, stated that skilled workers would be sent to Italy through legal channels, who would not only contribute towards the economy of the host country but remittances send back home would ameliorate Forex reserves.
