Italian Naval Diplomacy: ITS Francesco Morosini port-calls Karachi

KARACHI: While the gentle waves of Arabian Sea kept on lapping Karachi – one of Asia’s largest and busiest deep-water ports – karachiites converged onboard ITS Francesco Morosini port-calling as part of Italian Naval Diplomacy.

ITS Francesco Morosini also carried out sea drill with PNS Shah Jehan embarked with helicopter & PAF fighters.

143-meter-long ITS Francesco Morosini belongs to PPA patrol vessels – a new class of Italian navy combatant platforms distinguished by a unique hull design featuring a wave-piercing bow for higher speeds.

Francesco Morosini is not only meant to conduct maritime security missions but also humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.  

Commanding Officer Giovanni Monno invited the Italian Envoy H.E. Andreas Ferrarese  to address the ladies and gentlemen in the audience.

Talking exclusively to Newspaksitan.tv the Ambassador said: “We are very proud to bring this ship all around Asia and to stopover in the very friendly port of Karachi.

We have been enthusiastically received by our friends…

“It was a great event testifying the friendship between Italy and Pakistan.”

Consul General Danilo Giurdanella stated: “I am very happy about this visit.

“Very important engagement from the Italian Navy.

“It is the newest ship of the Italian Navy.

“(The ship Francesco Morosini) is visiting Karachi for four days...

“This is the Naval Diplomacy, not only to be engaged with Pakistan Navy and Pakistani Armed Forces

“But, since it is a multipurpose vessel we are also trying to bring investments, business and trade in Pakistan”.
