Italian Ombudsman Marino Fardelli’s Sojourn At Karachi

KARACHI: The Ombudsman of Lazio Region and the President of the National Coordination of Italian Ombudsmen, Marino Fardelli, visited the Metropolis from 10th till 12th June, 2023.

Marino Fardelli, who was officially invited by the Ombudsman of Sindh Ajaz Ali Khan, attended the reception for the 2023 National Day organized by the Italian Consulate in Karachi.

During his sojourn here, Marino Fardelli had cordial meetings with the Governor of Sindh, Muhammad Kamran Khan Tessori and the Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah.

Ombudsman Lazio Region of Italy, accompanied by the Consul General of Italy Danilo Giurdanella, called on the Sindh’s Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali.

Ombudsman of Lazio Region Marino Fardelli also visited the Pediatric Emergency Ward of Karachi Civil Hospital together with Dr. Francesco Zatta, the director of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation in Islamabad.

Dr. Ahson Rabbani, President of the Child Life Foundation updated Marino Fardelli and Dr. Zatta on the activities carried out and the collaboration between the Giannina Gaslini Institute Italy and the Child Life Foundation.

Visiting President of the National Coordination of Italian Ombudsmen Marino Fardelli also delivered two lectures in the Port City.

The first discourse on The impact of the mafia in society was given at the Sind Club Library.

Pakistan Institute of International Affairs was the venue of the second talk that was on Strengthening Human Rights and Global Justice: The Ombudsman’s Contribution in the International Context.

Marino Fardelli has invited the Pakistani authorities and his colleague Ajaz Ali Khan (Ombudsman of Sindh) to the International Ombudsman Conference scheduled to be held in Rome on 21^st and 22nd September, 2023.

Ajaz Ali Khan confirmed his participation following the meeting at his office.

During his visit to the Provincial Capital Marino Fardelli also paid a visit to the shrine of Sufi Saint Syed Abdullah Shah Ghazi in Clifton and alongwith the Consul General Danilo Giurdanella distributed langar (free food) among devotees.

The visit concluded with the dinner organized by Ajaz Ali Khan in honor of visiting dignitary Marino Fardelli at Sindh Government Officers Club here.

Marino Fardelli thanked the Italian Consulate in Karachi and his confrère Ajaz Ali Khan for the opportunity to share ideas, reflections aimed at strengthening the collaboration between Italy and Pakistan in the pursuit of human rights and global justice.
