WASHINGTON: 59-year-old US Vice President Kamala Harris (the highest-ranking woman in US history), has effectively secured the Democratic party’s presidential nomination on Friday (2nd August, 2024).

The first S. Asian woman in the history of US to secure such a nomination, Kamala Harris said: “I am honored to be the presumptive Democratic nominee for president of the United States.”
