Karachi is my favorite city in the world: Italian Consul Anna Ruffino

KARACHI: Italian Consul Anna Ruffina belongs to Pimonte, known as the best region for red wine, truffles and chocolate company Ferrero. 

Talking to NPTV here on the occasion of a concert by Italian pianist Alessandro Commellato, she lovingly called her home town a ‘delicious region’.

“I’m trying to be very active (here) because we really want to promote Italian culture and to put it on the cultural spotlight scenery in Karachi. I’m going to stay (here) Insha’Allah till next summer then I (will) have to return to my country. I still don’t know (exactly) when I’m leaving, but I will be heartbroken when I leave Karachi, it’s my favorite city in the world.”

Speaking about her achievements here as the Consul of Italy Anna Ruffino stated: “The best achievement I remember, rather the best memory I have is the MoU between the National Institute of Child Health (NICH) here and Gaslini Children Hospital in Italy. I invited Italian doctors to come and visit NICH, because I was so impressed by the work of these doctors. They tpoo were very impressed and decided to sign the MoU.”

She said that was an example of cooperation that she was very proud of: “And what haven’t I achieved yet? Well maybe, I would say, to make Italy even more famous then it is right now in Karachi. Well until next summer, (I plan) to work a lot. I still want to offer a lot of events to Karachi. So I will work till my last day here!”

‘World’s tallest mural’ unveiled in Karachi!

KARACHI: Consul-General of Italy Anna Ruffino has stated that the 286-foot-tall public art mural Rising Blue, made by Italian artist Giuseppe Percivati, was not only a message of peace also an attempt to warn the people about deteriorating environment.

She was speaking on the occasion of the unveiling of Rising Blue – which is claimed to be the world’s tallest by the organizers – made at Counterpoint yesterday (25th of January, 2020). Consul General pointing towards the theme – Mangroves along the coast of Sindh –  maintained that was a great gift to Karachiites.

The artist Giuseppe Percivati informed that he prepared for the project for months before painting it in nine days. It is pertinent to mention here that Rising Blue is part of the I Am Karachi‘s International Public Art Festival (IPAF).

Italian CG Anna Ruffino plays Piano at NAPA! (TEXT AND VIDEO)

KARACHI: Anna Ruffino, the Consul General of Italy at the Metropolis, surprised the ladies and gentlemen in the audience by playing a piece of Italian composer Ludovico Einaudi here at National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA).

Earlier, Anna Ruffino had welcomed the music aficionados to Musica Senza Confini – a performance by Italian singer Silvia Boreale who opened her performance with National Anthem of Italy as illustrated Ustaad Nafees Ahmed played Sitar. That was followed by Pakistani National Anthem and patriotic song Sohni Dharti. Silvia went on to enthrall the packed audience with her hit originals.
