KARACHI: Ridiculously, despite the claims of spending gazillion of rupees, just one hour of rain on Saturday (3rd of Feb, 2024) evening has submerged the Metropolis, exposing the administration’s inefficiency.
The Mayor took to the X (Twitter) to appeal: “Please avoid unnecessary movement. It’s still raining in different areas. Teams have been deployed to clear the major arteries of the city. Naalaas are flowing on full capacity. Some of the pumping stations have shut down. Issues are being addressed. Will keep people posted!”

The rain that commenced at 8PM inundated major arteries. PAF Faisal Base received 75 millimeters of rainfall, Malir (64mm), Surjani Town (63.8mm), Keamari (55mm), Quaidabad (52mm), Old Airport area (51mm), Gulshan-e-Hadeed (50mm), PAF Masroor Base (47.2mm), Jinnah Terminal (42mm), Saadi Town (37.6mm), North Karachi (33.6mm), University Road (30mm), Gulshan-e-Maymar (23.8mm), Nazimabad (23.5mm) and Korangi (15mm).
