Karsaz Tragedy: Driver Natasha refused bail in drug case

KARACHI: A judicial magistrate has refused to grant post-arrest bail to Karsaz driver Natasha Danish in drug case on Monday (9th September, 2024).

Natasha’s advocate challenged the dismissal of bail petition in sessions court claiming that the judicial magistrate had overlooked the evidence. It is pertinent to mention here that according to the diyat or blood money law the heirs of the slain victims took five and a half crores rupees to pardon the driver. Nevertheless, she still faces the drug consumption matter.

According to details when her urine was tested, it transpired that she had used Methamphetamine (Crystal Meth) before driving the vehicle. Hence, another FIR was registered against her under Section 11 (drinking liable to tazir) of the Prohibition Enforcement of Hadd Order (PEHO) of 1979.

It may be recalled that Natasha Danish (a resident of KDA-I) was speeding in a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) Toyota Land Cruiser on Karsaz Road. She had killed two motorcycle riders [daughter (26-year-old Aamna Arif) and her father (60-year-old Imran Arif)] on Karsaz Road here on 19th August, was sent to jail for 14 days by District East Magistrate on judicial remand 21st August.
