ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that Kashmir is the backbone of Pakistan and it is not an internal part of any country.
He said this while presiding over a meeting with the heads of all parliamentary parties here on Monday to discuss ongoing Indian aggression along the Line of Control (LoC) and Indian atrocities in held Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, opposition leader Khursheed Shah, Sherry Rehman, Hina Rabbani Khar, Pakistan Tehreeki-Insaf (PTI)’s Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Shireen Mazari, MQM-Pakistan’s Farooq Sattar, Jamaat Islami (JI)’s Sirajul Haq and other leaders of the political parties.
Members of government present included the Prime Minister, Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.
Foreign Secretary briefed participants about the latest situation in occupied Kashmir and the LoC. He also spoke about the human rights violations in IHK, specially those against women and children.
He said that Kashmir has become a flashpoint issue and Pakistan wants to discuss Kashmir and other bilateral issues with India.
The secretary also denied the Indian claim of surgical strikes and dismissed India’s allegations against Pakistan regarding the attack on the Uri base camp as ‘baseless’.
Political leaders decided to send delegations to countries in order to highlight Indian atrocities in Kashmir. Political parties have also demanded that a security committee should be formed.

Leading his party at the meeting, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said, “Despite our differences with the government on multiple issues, we are with you, Prime Minister, on the Kashmir issue and Indian aggression along LoC.”
“We will support you. The PPP has taken a clear stance on these issues. This is a turning point in Pak-India relations,” he added.
He also said, “A united Pakistan can counter Indian aggression and by working together we can achieve our national security goals. There is no military solution to Kashmir.”
“We have to speak with one voice,” Shah Mehmood Qureshi added.
Addressing the conference, Sirajul Haq said “given the present circumstances, we are with the government, the military and the people.”
