AIMAN INAM

KARACHI: Experts suggest that fiber is an essential element of the diets as it promotes our health and keep us off from innumerable ailments due to lots of nutrients, minerals and vitamins in it. It is found only in plant products. There are two sorts of fibers, soluble and insoluble.

Foods that are stuffed with soluble fiber incorporate oats and oatmeal, legumes (peas, beans, and lentils), barley, fruits and veggies (particularly oranges, apples and carrots).

It has a number of advantages apropos human health as it could reduce the cholesterol (a prime risk aspect of mounting heart illness), temperate blood glucose levels, diminish body mass and endorse healthy bowel movements.

However, insoluble fiber surpasses through the digestive structure. It is found in the seeds and skins of fruit including whole-wheat bread and brown rice.

It is considered good for intestinal health as it decreases the menace of having hemorrhoids and constipation. Besides, it too helps in shrinking weight.

Health and wellness connoisseurs here have suggested eating fruits and vegetables in place of juices. Consume them with peels since they consist of much of the fiber. One should eat around five helpings of fruit and vegetables on a daily basis. Also, opt for whole grains such as bread, cereals, brown rice and pasta rather than excessively processed and refined grains.

It has further been learnt that we should augment the consumption of beans or other legumes and lessen mean intake.

P.S. One should drink more water when consuming more fiber because it soaks up a huge quantity of water.
