Lebanon: Israeli FM rejects French FM’s ceasefire proposal

BEIRUT: Israeli Foreign Minister (FM) Israel Katz, while commenting on the proposal of 21-day temporary ceasefire on Thursday (26th Sept, 2024) took to the X (Twitter) to assert that there would be no ceasefire in the north.

Katz stated: “We will continue to fight against the Hezbollah organisation with all our strength until victory and the safe return of the residents of the north to their homes.”

It is pertinent to mention here that French FM Jean-Noël Barrot on Wednesday (25th Sept 2024) said while addressing the 15-member UN Security Council:“A diplomatic solution is indeed possible.

In recent days, we’ve worked with our American partners on a temporary ceasefire platform of 21 days to allow for negotiations.

“We are counting on both parties to accept it without delay, in order to protect civilian populations and allow for diplomatic negotiations to begin,” Jean-Noël Barrot stated.
