Local Govt. issues poll code of conduct notification

LAHORE: The Local Government & Community Development Department on Sunday issued a notification regarding code of conduct of general election 2018 for the national and provincial assemblies.

All mayors, deputy mayors, chairmen, deputy chairmen, of metropolitan corporations, district councils, municipal corporation, municipal committees and union councils of the entire province have been prohibited from participating in election campaigns. The public representatives would not be permitted to be a part of any type of election activity. Strict legal action will be taken against officers on receiving of any complaint against them.

The Election Commission of Pakistan has redress complaints regarding non-availability of amenities in 823 polling stations so far. Temporary boundary walls has been erected in 188 polling which are established in departments having no permanent boundary walls. Various categories of 68 complaints have been redressed against government officers and officials so far. Notice has been taken of complaints registered in all public offices in entire province and redressed.
