Mob lynches an accused of blasphemy in Nankana Sahib

NANKANA SAHIB: IGP Punjab has suspended the (Warburton PS) SHO Feroze Bhatti and area DSP Nawaz Waraq when an angry mob succeeded in barging into the Police Station, dragging a 35-year-old accused of blasphemy (duly locked-up) out and burning him alive on Saturday (11th of Feb, 2023).

Incidentally, when the unruly mob was carrying out the crime, SHO and his staff run for their own lives.

Meanwhile, PM ordered an investigation into the lynching incident maintaining that the rule of law should be ensured.

Caretaker CM of the Province directed that legal action be taken against those who took the law into their own hands.

Punjab Police took to the Twitter to inform: “IG Punjab took notice of the incident of killing of a citizen in Nankana on the charge of desecration of the Quran by the citizens.

“He ordered senior officers to reach the spot and submit an inquiry report.

“Strict departmental and legal action will be taken against those responsible for the incident and those found guilty of negligence. “
