Mommies of teens are more prone to come out with maternal depression!

AIMAN INAM

BOSTON: In a fresh breakthrough, pundits here have ascertained that maternal depression is more prevalent among mums of teens.

It has been witnessed that parenting a teen is considered tough and tricky as compare to looking after a child.

The findings have been reported after conducting a survey involving approx 2,247 moms.

The participants have also been canvassed apropos their well-being, psychological health, parenting exposures and views about their children’s deeds.

Mothers reckoned the years of adolescence as the most complicated time for them. Throughout this period, ladies can feel lost, blank and displeased with their mothering chores.

It is pertinent to mention here that teenage is the time  when kids penetrate into puberty. This will bring remarkable changes in their hormones, which disturb their thinking and behavior.

Majority of mums could not put up with this drastic swing in their kids’ frame of mind as they like being alone or with their friends.

As a matter of fact, women’s estrogen and progesterone levels begin diminishing by the age of 42 years. As a result, they may sense more disturbed with themselves, their spouse and their children.

The academics rounded this study Developmental Psychology, up by asserting that taking care of teens does not provide ladies with the hormonal incentive known as the oxytocin (love rush) and these are grounds that chip-in towards making them more vulnerable to midlife depression.
