ISLAMABAD: Participants of Multi-Party Conference (MMC) of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) held here today has rejected the results of the polls held on 25th July 2018.
Following the MMC a joint Presser was addressed by JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, who proclaimed: “The All Parties Conference has completely rejected the July 25 elections with consensus. It was not a peoples mandate rather peoples mandate was stolen and they would not let anyone to hostage democracy in the country at any cost.”
Maulana Fazlur Rehman announced that a joint committee would be held in order to figure out a modus operandi apropos launching a movement forcing the government to hold the election again.
The leaders, however, fell short of evolving consensus on not taking an oath to new assemblies as Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shehbaz Sharif sought time to discuss the matter with other party leaders.
The conference chaired by Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam President Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shehbaz Sharif had a unanimous voice to reject election results and staging protests across the country.
Addressing the media after the conference, Maulana Fazlur Rehman alleged that the 2018 polls were rigged. “Parliament is sacrosanct and no one will be allowed to violate its sanctity.”
Since, these parties decided to launch a movement for holding free, fair and transparent re-elections, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said a committee would be constituted to launch a full-fledged ‘Tehreek’.
He claimed that precious national wealth and time was wasted by holding what he termed the ‘forged elections.’ He also informed the news conference that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz had sought time for consultation in that regard.
“A movement will be kicked off, and protests will be held to demand re-election, the schedule of which will be decided by a committee within a day or two,” he said.
Maulana claimed that the polling staff did not serve up to the mark and remained uncooperative with their polling agents which ultimately affected the poll results.
He said the members-elect of national and provincial assemblies from political parties participating in the conference will not take oath rather those parties would remain in contact to mobilize party workers.
To a question, he said those parties which were unable to attend the conference were in touch and would be taken on board for a strong and successful alliance.
Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) chief Senator Sirajul Haq, Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair, Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Hafeezur Rehman, Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider, Awami National Party Chief Asfandyar Wali Khan, Qaumi Watan Party Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, National Party’s Senator Mir Hasil Bizenjo, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party chairman Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Ayaz Sadiq, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Chaudhry Tanveer and Khurram Dastagir and Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) leaders Mustafa Kamal, Raza Haroon and Waseem Ahmed, MQM-P leaders Farooq Sattar* and several MMA leaders attended the APC.
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Chaudhary Sarwar today said the general election was held free, fair and transparent and no rigging was reported across the country. Talking to the Media he said PTI had no objection on scrutinizing any constituency in any part of the country. He said leveling allegation of rigging in the election would not strengthen and promote the democracy in the country. No complaint had received from voters regarding manipulation across the country, he added. He said PTI had prepared itself for the elections for five years and now won the election with thumping majority.
Chairman, Senate Standing Committee on Interior on Friday sought a detailed report from Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on delay in results and breakdown of Result Transmission System (RTS) and Result Management System (RMS) on elections day. He expressed his concern over complaints, reservations, and dissatisfaction shown by some major political parties on results of General Election. In a letter, Senator A. Rehman Malik, who was also coordinator nominated by Senate House to monitor and ensure the security of General Election, 2018, has asked Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan to clarify the points based on complaints, objections, and reservations raised by various political parties and reported in media. He wrote that points, raised during pressers of various political parties, need to be addressed immediately.
*It is pertinent to mention here that PTI has contacted MQM-P in order to ponder over the possibility of forming a coalition government. Hence the presence of Dr. Farooq Sattar was probably in a personal capacity.
Meanwhile, PML-N and PPPP said that they would not boycott the NA’s oath-taking session. PPPP, rejecting the ‘entire poll process’, advised the MMA and its allies not to leave the Parliament: “This process didn’t have to be so complicated and compromised. It was their [ECP’s] responsibility and they failed. We are democracy-loving people, but cannot accept this result. I pay tribute to PPP workers, ticket holders and candidates for performing better than the last elections, but we cannot accept these results.”
Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari took to the tweeter stating: “In case someone was wondering how PTI won so drastically, here’s another example from Jhang… 12,000 votes canceled…”
A relevant piece published earlier: Lyariites were so used to the concept of Bhuttoism that the jilayaaz started reckoning Lyari as the bastion of PPPP.
This time lyariites resorted to throw stones on the grandson of Shaheed Rani. Many said it was all orchestrated. But on 25th July the silent masses spoke through ballots and voted Bilawal Bhutto Zardari out.
Nevertheless, the Party has decided not to be part of the Multi-Party Conference (MPC) called by MMA and PML-N to figure out a modus operandi apropos alleged rigging in the polls.
