Nation needs to support forces to purge country of extremism: COAS

RAWALPINDI: Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa says that the nation needs to support the forces in order to eliminate extremism from the country.

The COAS made these remarks during a meeting with a visiting delegation comprising members of Defence Committees of the Senate and National Assembly at General Headquarters (GHQ) here today.

“A group of parliamentarians and the chief of army staff reiterated their resolve to purge the country of extremism through a synergetic, whole-of-the-nation approach based on the principle of “collective potential and shared responsibility”, a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The statement further stated that the parliamentary members were given a detailed briefing on evolving security environment including the situation on borders and Pakistan’s Army efforts for peace and security.
