Nation remembers Muffakir-e-Pakistan Allama Iqbal on his 82nd death anniversary

LAHORE: Despite COVID-19 lockdown, the 82nd death anniversary of Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal was observed today.


Shair-e-Mashriq, Muffakir-e-Pakistan, and Hakeem-ul-Ummat are the titles given to the national poet and philosopher.


Recently, talking to this scribe, Irani member of parliament (Tehran) and the Consul General of Iran posted at Karachi said that people of their country too call Iqbal-e-Lahori their poet


It is pertinent to mention here that a major portion of Allama Iqbal’s work is in Persian as he had perfect command over the language.


Iqbal, born in Sialkot on 9th November, 1877, is also credited with sparking the Pan-Islamic thought among Muslims of the subcontinent.

Called the Sufi poet of modern age he was a man of great ideas – dynamic, romantic and profound. His literary work include Asrar-e-Khudi, Payam-i-Mashriq, Bang-i-Dara, Bal-i-Jibril, Zarb-i Kaleem and Armughan-e-Hijaz.
Iqbal’s poetry has been translated into a number of languages including Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, English.
