Nishtar Hospital: 58 bodies buried following DNA tests

MULTAN: 58 unclaimed corpses, found decaying in Nishtar Medical University, have been buried following extraction of DNA samples.

According to details the corpses were handed over to the Station House Officers of the Police Stations that had earlier provided the cadavers to the Hospital enabling students learn about their metier profoundly.

The remains were buried in the area of the respective Police Stations.

When the macabre story of throwing of unidentified bodies on the roof of Nishtar Medical Hospital was telecast those responsible claimed that such corpses were used to educate the medical students and due to maggots the mortal remains were kept on the roof.

In a rejoinder the Head of Anatomy Department Nishtar Medical University (NMU), Dr Mariam Ashraf stated that that unidentified bodies were handed over to medical university by police in order to facilitate Medical students learn about anatomy.

However, all the people (including Dr. Seemeen Jamali) NPTV contacted said that no such practice was a norm in any medical university.

CM Punjab had ordered an inquiry instructing the concerned authorities to take strict disciplinary action against the responsible.
