No dialogue with PTI: PDM chief

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Tuesday (1st of January 2022) said no compromise would be made on the country’s integrity and supremacy of law and Constitution.

Addressing a press conference here, he said that the PDM was endeavoring for the country’s integrity and economic stability and in this regard, no compromise would be made by holding talks with the PTI leaders who wanted political and economic instability in the country.

“I want to convey a message to my own government and Prime Minister that no dialogue offers should be given to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI),” he added.

He said PTI’s long march had failed to muster people’s support as they could not gather more than 2000 people and that’s was they were hesitant to come to Islamabad.

He opined that the PTI march could not reach Islamabad as they do not have public support, adding, it would be ended before reaching the federal capital.

Fazl said they were talking about bringing arms so that any untoward incident takes place and they do politics over dead bodies.

He said their ministers were talking in a way as if PTI was a terrorist organization that did not believe in politics and arguments but believed in using arms. They want to blackmail the government with such tactics, but they would never succeed in their ulterior motives.

He was of the view that political stability was a must in the democratic system as it leads to economic stability. He said the supremacy of law and the Constitution must be ensured.

PTI wanted political and economic instability and chaos in the country, he said, adding for the first time, the chief of a national institution had to come forward to clear things as the steps taken by the PTI threatened the state.

He recalled that the sit-in protests were held when the country was stepping into a new era of economic stability and the visit of the Chinese President was scheduled.

Fazl said protests were aimed at damaging the confidence of friendly country China over Pakistan and sabotaging foreign investment. However, these attempts failed through political wisdom and national solidarity.

After the general elections in 2018, a ‘selected government’ of PTI was imposed which cancelled all the mega projects in the country and froze all International investments, he added.

The development process remained halted over the three and a half years rule of the selected government, he added.

He said the State bank of Pakistan (SBP) was handed over to IMF in the name of its independence. Today, the SBP President was not answerable to anyone including the PM, Cabinet or Parliament, he mentioned.

Now, he said, the long march towards Islamabad was announced on a day when a few days before a ministerial-level meeting was held between China and Pakistan in which the investment and development projects had to be decided for the next year.

He mentioned that confidence was the most important factor for investments, but such a march was aimed at damaging China’s trust and bringing the development journey of the country to a standstill.

Today, when Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif was on a visit to China and discussing about the investments in Pakistan with Chinese authorities there, the PTI was planning about entering into Islamabad.

He said Imran Khan wanted the new Chief of Army Staff to be appointed by his own choice otherwise Martial-law should be imposed.

The youth of the country was being forced towards indiscipline and we would not allow these people to misguide the country’s youth.

Replying to a question, Maulana Fazl Rehman said that there should be an information sharing between Afghanistan and Pakistan to build confidence and overcome the menace of terrorism.

He also underlined the need for the formation of a Judicial commission to probe the death of the private tv channel’s female reporter Sadaf who was run over by Container during the PTI long march. He also said that the killing of Arshad Sharif should also be investigated by a judicial commission to bring all facts to the surface.

Blue-eyed politics should come to an end and supremacy of law and constitution should be ensured, he said.

Fazl said that solid measures were underway to make Dera Ismail Khan a business and industrial hub to ensure development and prosperity in the area.
