NEW DELHI: Security team from Pakistan, which arrived at New Delhi to review the status of security arrangements for the upcoming India-Pakistan T20 match in Dharamshala, has finally left after a 4-hour wait at the Attari road check post.

The team, comprising Usman Anwar, a DSP with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) of Pakistan and Azam Khan, a member of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), had crossed over from the Pakistan side of the checkpost into India at 10 AM. However, the two officials were not permitted to proceed to their destination as Azam Khan did not have the requisite NOC (No Objection Certificate) to travel by road in India.

The two were finally permitted to move on after an NOC was handed over by Pakistan officials at the zero line. The journey to Dharamshala could take a minimum of five hours.

In an informal chat, Usman Anwar said,”We are here to review the security status for the Pakistan cricket team at Dharamshala. We will be meeting officials of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and also Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh. Only then will be able to say something about the security setup and give our report to the Pakistani cricket officials.”

The two will also meet Anurag Thakur, BCCI secretary and BJP MP from Hamirpur. Thakur is keen that the HP Cricket association host the India-Pakistan match at Dharamshala.
