Pakistan strongly condemns Israeli air strikes in Gaza

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Tuesday strongly condemned the airstrikes by Israel in Gaza and called upon the international community to put an end to the blatant use of force and flagrant violation of human rights of the Palestinian people.

The airstrikes followed by attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque that resulted in deaths and injuries to large number of innocent Palestinians including children. The indiscriminate use of force by Israeli forces against defenseless Palestinians, causing death and injuries, defied all humanitarian norms and human rights laws, Foreign Office spokesperson in a press release said.

“This is yet another reprehensible action during the holy month of Ramadan, following the increased restrictions on the fundamental freedoms of Palestinians, and the attacks in and outside Al-Aqsa Mosque,” the spokesman said.

Establishment of a viable, independent and contiguous State of Palestine, on the basis of internationally agreed parameters, the pre-1967 borders, and with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, is the only sustainable guarantee for peace in the region, it was reiterated.

Reacting to the Israeli atrocities Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made telephone calls to Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas and Hamas Leader Ismail Haniyeh on Monday (10th of May) and said he would do everything in his power to mobilize the world, starting with the Islamic World, to stop Israel’s terror and occupation.

Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi took to the Twitter to state: “Spoke to brother Mevlut Cavusoglu on the increasingly dire and oppressive situation in Palestine. Fully support Turkey’s call to convene meeting of OIC_OCI & UN. Storming 1st Qibla of Islam Masjid Al Aqsa, killing children and forcing evictions – absolutely unacceptable.”

While Palestinian fighters fired two hundred rockets towards Israel since Monday (10th of May) 90% failed to reach the target as they were intercepted by Iron Dome Missile Defense System. Nevertheless, at least six citoyens here have been wounded. Israel too carried out 130 strikes by means of fighter jets and attack helicopters on military targets in the enclave, killing 15 commanders from Hamas/Islamic Jihad.
