Macron declares the Olympic Games open on 26th July, 2024

PARIS: French President Emmanuel Macron has declared the Olympic Games open here on Friday (26th July, 2024).

Ten thousand five hundred (5250 men, 5250 women) athletes from 206 nations have converged here on Friday (26th July, 2024) to compete in 329 events (for 329 gold medals) in 32 sports during the event that will end on 11th of August.

International Olympics Committee President Thomas Bach said: “I invite everybody: dream with us. Like the Olympic athletes, be inspired with the joy that only sport can give us. Let us celebrate this Olympic spirit of living in peace.”

In order to ensure security the concerned authorities have deployed 45,000 police and paramilitary officers along with 10,000 soldiers and 20,000 private security guards.

Pakistan is fielding seven athletes:

1) Pakistan’s Icon Javelin Thrower Arshad Nadeem will be seen in action on 6th and 8th of August. Pakistani contingent’s flag will be held by him and swimmer Jehanara.

2) Pakistani Female Runner (100m) Faiqa Riaz will attempt to fetch a medal on 2nd of August.

3) Pakistan’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Shooter Ghulam Mustafa Bashir will show his talent on 4th of August.

4) Pakistan’s Shooter Gulfam Joseph will be seen on 27th July (10m Air Pistol Mixed Team Event) and on 29th July (10m Air Pistol Men Event).

5) Pakistani Female Shooter Kishmala Talat will shoot on 27th July (10m Air Pistol Women), on 29th July (10m Air Pistol Mixed Team) and 2nd of August 25m Pistol Women.

6) Pakistani Swimmer Ahmed Durrani will show his talent on 29th July (Men’s 200m Freestyle). She will hold the Pakistani contingent’s flag alongwith Arshad Nadeem.

7) Pakistani Female Swimmer Jehanara Nabi will try to beat the world in 200m Freestyle on 28th July.

TGV Attacked:

PM Gabriel Attal has informed the citoyens on Friday (26th July, 2024): “Early this morning, coordinated and prepared acts of sabotage were perpetrated against installations of SNCF.”

The Chief Executive of SNCF Jean-Pierre Farandou told that the arsonists had commenced fires in conduits carrying multiple fiber-optic cables that carry safety information for drivers or control the motors for points.

Jean-Pierre Farandou further revealed that there was a huge number of bundled cables: “We have to repair them one by one, it’s a manual operation requiring hundreds of workers.”
