The Arshad Nadeem Miracle: Pakistan got one gold medal thanks to the personal endeavours of ace javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem. On his return he was received at Allama Iqbal International Airport (Lahore) by an enthusiastic crowd (including his family members who were brought here from village in special protocol). The plane, harbouring (the Olympic Gold Medallist, Ace Javelin Thrower) Arshad Nadeem, was presented a water cannon salute. The populace of the Champ’s village at Mian Channu had been provided free transport by the concerned authorities facilitating them to converge at Lahore airport to greet the hero. Arshad Nadeem’s father said though he was just a labourer, Allah had been kind to him, his son made the nation proud. His sister said that the family skipped a meal daily for five years to support Arshad Nadeem while people used to taunt that the ‘ass’ would never win.
