ISLAMABAD: FIA Cybercrime Wing has commenced action against 150 individuals including journalists, vloggers and anchors who allegedly played a role in propagating false narrative against security agencies apropos government operation carried out on 26th Nov 2024 in order to contain PTI manifestation.

It may be recalled that PTI claimed their 12 workers were shot dead, while government dismissed the allegation saying they never fired on the protesters. PTI Chairman MNA Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, speaking on the National Assembly floor on 11th Dec, 2024, has asked the government to have courage to give answers apropos alleged massacre that took place here 26th November, 2024: “Even if bullets have been fired, there should at least be the courage to give answers, show remorse, investigate, and compensate the people.”

Earlier, Opposition Leader Omar Ayub – accusing PM of giving orders to kill – too demanded a judicial probe to figure out the facts about the deaths of PTI men protesting at D-Chowk. It is pertinent to mention here that PTI had officially claimed that security forces had used lethal weapons (that were provided by the West to combat terrorism) to gun the protesters down. It is pertinent to recall here that during Police-Rangers’ operation, Bushra/Gandapur/Omar Ayub’s container was torched in the early hours of 27th Nov, 2024.

PTI took a retreat calling it a day: “In view of the government’s brutality and plan to turn the capital into a slaughterhouse for unarmed citizens, (PTI) announces the suspension of the peaceful protest for the time being”. PTI had claimed that 1000 of its workers had been taken into custody and 12 of the protesters were shot dead during Police/Rangers’ operation on 26th November. The security forces held that there was no firing on protesters. Meanwhile, HRCP too called for political introspection.
