PIA flies from Gwadar to Muscat

GWADAR: Inaugural Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight PK-197 harboring 39 passengers departed from here to Muscat Friday (24th January, 2025) morning and returned the very day in the afternoon as flight PK-198.

Using Avion de Transport Regional (ATR)’s turboprop aircraft the National Flag Carrier PIA will operate one flight weekly to Muscat on Fridays. It may be recalled that following the inauguration of Gwadar International Airport, a commercial flight of PIA, originating from Karachi, harboring 46 voyagers, landed here on 20th Jan 2025.

The Gwadar Int’l Airport, that has been constructed grace á $230m Chinese aid, has a 14,000-square-metre passenger terminal that happens to have community hospital and utility services. The airport is expected to handle 4 lakh passengers per annum expandable to 1.6 million. The 3,648-metre runway can accommodate Boeing 747 as well as Airbus A380.
