KARACHI: Pakistan Medical Association (PMA-Centre) Friday registered its satisfaction on safe recovery of a senior neurosurgeon Dr Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil, abducted from Quetta some 48 days ago.
Secretary General of PMA-Centre, Dr S.M Qaisar Sajjad in a statement issued here said that return of the senior doctor though was quite delayed yet a cause of major relief for his family and medical community of the country.
“This, however, does not leave any room for complacency and PMA demands urgent and fool proof measures for the security of all health care providers and people in general,” he said.
Mentioning that Dr Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil was kidnapped in the first week of December while on his way back from Civil Hospital, Quetta to his residence, he said the incident has led to a deep sense of insecurity among the professionals.
“The trauma and emotional distress caused to the victim and his family can also never be ignored,” Dr Qaisar Sajjad said.
PMA Centre was said to had raised its voice against this kidnapping and to have also kept itself directly engaged with Chief Minister and Governor of Balochistan for safety of Dr Khalil.
Dr Qaisar said the doctors from across the country, particularly those from Balochistan had struggled for safe return of their colleague and do expect from authorities to ensure safety and security of the community.
