Police detain, release dozens of students after raiding hostel

RAWALPINDI: Police detained and released dozens of students in a late night raid at a hostel in Rawalpindi.

Rawalpindi’s New Town police conducted at a boys hostel, checked documents of the students and detained dozens of them.

When asked, they told students it was an emergency and some of the police personnel said they were implementing the anti-terror National Action Plan.

The students were taken to police station and were later released.

The raid and arrests sparked protest from the students. They said that they could not get prepared for the exam scheduled for Monday.

The protesting students accused police party of threatening them in the police station.
