RAHIM YAR KHAN: District Police Officer Rizwan Umar Gondal on Tuesday (27th August, 2024) has denied Media reports that government had released a convict (Abdul Jabbar Lolai) on the demands of Katcha Dacoits in order to secure the freedom of Constable Ahmed Nawaz (who was abducted on 22nd August).
According to DPO the convict Lolai was granted bail by an additional sessions judge.
Earlier, in a video released by the Kacha Dacoits the abducted cop Ahmad Nawaz was seen appealing the CM and the IGP to pay the ransom to ensure his safe release.
Twenty-five dacoits operating in the kacha (riverine) area, armed with rocket-launchers, attacked Thursday (22nd August, 2024) two Police vehicles (within the Machhka PS limits) carrying 20 cops. killing 12 and injuring other 8 (two critically), who were going back after discharging 15-day duties.
Police claimed that they had neutralised three dacoits in the exchange of fire. Meanwhile, it seems that the bandits had kidnapped a number of Police officers. Cynics go haywire wondering why the SOPs were not followed. For instance, why the cops were not travelling during the day instead of night; why they were not wearing bullet proof jackets; why they were not transported by means of armoured vehicles?
