ISLAMABAD: After fifth brain-storming rendezvous involving PPP and PML-N, a late-night joint Presser was held by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, his father Asif Ali Zardari (president-designate) and PML-N President (PM-designate) Shehbaz Sharif.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that PML-N and PPP had enough winning legislators to form the government and that very soon Shehbaz Sharif will be elected the PM of Pakistan: “Pakistan Peoples Party and Muslim League-Nawaz now have complete numbers and we are in the position to form the next government.”
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that his father Asif Ali Zardari would be the joint candidate of both the parties for the post of President. However, PPP would not be part of the cabinet.
Chairman PPP predicted that with the end of confusion apropos formation of government the stock exchange would perform well from Wednesday (21st Feb, 2024) onward.
PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif claimed that they had sent message to the (PTI-backed) independents to form the government if they had enough seats, and told them in that case they would accept their victory. But they failed to muster the required numbers up.
PM-designate Shehbaz Sharif said that PML-N would support PPP to get Asif Ali Zardari elected as the President of Pakistan for five years. Thanking other allied parties Muttahida Qaumi Movement (P) and Pakistan Muslim League-Q in this regard, he said they would be focusing on issues of economics, terrorism and inflation.
According to Shehbaz Sharif the coalition government will endeavor towards augmenting the output in agriculture as well as industrial sectors. PM-designate held that the new government would attempt to give the youth vocational training and particularly educate the youth in IT.
Asif Ali Zardari, maintaining that they had joined hands for the development of Pakistan and future of its youth, asked people to pray for their success.
In the 8th Feb 2024 General Elections PML-N bagged 79 out of 336 seats and PPP won 54. With the support of smaller parties the duo have a majority to form the government.
According to the deal struck President, Senate Chairman, Punjab & KP Governors, Balochistan CM and Deputy Speaker of NA will be from PPP. The PM (Shehbaz Sharif), CM Punjab (Maryam Nawaz) and NA Speaker will be from PML-N.
