LAHORE: In order to save the life of their confrère Constable Ahmad Nawaz, who was abducted by terrorists a couple of days ago, Police agreed to a prisoners swap and released a notorious dacoit from jail Sunday (25th August, 2024).

In a video released by the Kacha Dacoits the abducted cop Ahmad Nawaz was seen appealing the CM and the IGP to pay the ransom to ensure his safe release.

Twenty-five dacoits operating in the kacha (riverine) area, armed with rocket-launchers, attacked Thursday (22nd August, 2024) two Police vehicles (within the Machhka PS limits) carrying 20 cops. killing 12 and injuring other 8 (two critically), who were going back after discharging 15-day duties.

Police claimed that they had neutralised three dacoits in the exchange of fire. Meanwhile, it seems that the bandits had kidnapped a number of Police officers. Cynics go haywire wondering why the SOPs were not followed.

For instance, why the cops were not travelling during the day instead of night; why they were not wearing bullet proof jackets; why they were not transported by means of armoured vehicles?
