Rain claims 5 lives of karachiites, submerges areas under 5 feet of water

KARACHI: Five citoyens lost their lives (four were electrocuted while one drowned in a Nullah) here today as the Port City experienced the third spell of Monsoon downpour.

Moreover, many parts of the city submerged just after a couple of hours of rain. In areas like Gulbahar and Golimar people had to wade through five feet of water that also entered residences.

Meanwhile, half of the Metropolis is presently sans electricity as 550 KE feeders tripped due to the spell. But the utility service provider claims that the outage was planned to avoid any loss of life due to electrocution and the power will be restored as soon as it is safe to do so:.

“Power supply of low lying areas has been shutdown due to water-logging which creates a safety hazard. Our teams are working continuously so please be assured we aim to restore power as soon as it is safe to do so,” maintained KE.
