Saif-ur-Rehman is the new Admin Kr

KARACHI: Dr. Syed Saif-ur-Rehman has been appointed as the Administrator of the Metropolis with immediate effect by Sindh Government.

According to a Local Government & Housing Town Planning Dept’s notification the resignation of Barrister Murtaza Wahab has been accepted. He had shunned the post a couple of months ago.

The notification reads: “In exercise of powers, vested U/s 21(3) of Sindh Local Government Act, 2013… and with the approval of the competent authority, upon acceptance of resignation of Barrister Murtaza Wahab…Dr Syed Saif-ur-Rehman, an officer of PAS (BS-20)…is hereby appointed as Administrator, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation.”

It may be recalled that Barrister Murtaza Wahab had taken to the Twitter two months ago to inform that he had resigned from the office of Administrator KMC.

In his resignation sent to Murad Ali Shah CM Sindh, Murtaza Wahab stated: “It was an honor to serve people of my city & I would like to thank my party leadership for giving me this opportunity. May our country function on rule of law, in a manner that allows the Executive & Parliament to function.”

Talking to journalists at a Presser held in Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that the implementation of the municipal utility tax by the KMC was considered valid by the court but the collection through K-Electric was stopped.

Murtaza Wahab said that after the court verdict he could no longer remain the Admin Karachi.
