MARYLAND: People often complain regarding weird thoughts when they lie down on their beds to have some sleep.
It could be anything like the flashback from past, any incident or future planning etc.
Recurrent racing thoughts could be a symptom of severe mental disorder like anxiety.
However, innumerable folks go through such nights from time to time.
Bearing this in the wits, health and wellness experts suggested some simple tips to get over this dilemma.
Divert your mind: The major ingredient of having good night sleep is a tranquil mind. Therefore, distract yourself with worthless thoughts that are bothering you. Instead, think of something else that intrigues you. For instance, if you are music savvy, try to recreate your own tunes etc.
Endeavor to stay awake: It often happens that when we wish to sleep, we are more likely to stay awake because we worry about getting some sleep. Thereby, when we try to stay awake, this will surely help us to fall asleep.
Pen down your thoughts: If you feel like exhausted with never ending wishful thinking and mindless dreaming, then get out of the bed, go to another room and write down your thoughts that disturb you.
Connoisseurs believe that spending around 20 minutes writing is the best way to flush the worries and fears out of mind, which gives you a sense of serenity.
Try deep breathing: It is considered the most powerful diversion method. All you need to do is to focus on your breathing and pauses. If your mind distracts, just return to the exercise and keep doing that for around 10 minutes.
Do not stress-out yourself: It is very annoying when you wish to sleep but unwanted thoughts keep you awake for no reasons. Nevertheless, you do not need to struggle to ward off this chaos as this would make the situation worse. Try to analyze and accept those thinking with positive approach rather than disregarding or fighting.
Soak some sun: Getting more sun in the mid-morning could help re-adjust the brain’s inner clock. Also, this would help you to fall asleep at night. Mind you! Do not get out in the afternoon. Just get some sun early in the morning.
How much sleep is too much?
Newborns (0-3 months) need 14-17 hours sleep, Infants ( 4-11 months) 14-15 hours, Toddlers (12-35 months) 12-14 hours, Preschoolers (3-6 years) 11-13 hours, School age children (6-10) 10-11 hours, Teens 9.25 hours and Grown-ups require around eight hours sleep per night.
