Garrison city sealed, tear-gas shells, rubber bullets fired on PTI protesters

RAWALPINDI: Garrison City, particularly the Liaquat Bagh, had been hermetically sealed by means of containers, all kinds of gatherings had been banned, thousands of cops and paramilitary personnel had been deployed to thwart attempt of PTI to hold a protest rally here on Saturday (28th September, 2024).

PTI motorcade moving from Hasan Abdal towards Rawalpindi had faced intense tear-gas shelling. Numerous locales here transformed into battleground when Police resorted to fire tear-gas and rubber bullets at the PTI workers and supporters, including women, who converged there to protest. Workers who clashed with Police, threw back the tear-gas shells.

Ali Ameen Gandapur, returned to Peshawar due to closed roads. Containers had been placed at the Faizabad Interchange, Double Road and Saddar, Capital Police blocked the Islamabad Motorway at Hakla. Moreover, due to intense shelling and firing of rubber bullets his workers refused to move forward as he sat in comfort of his SUV.
