PESHAWAR: PHC bench (led by Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim and including Justices Ijaz Anwar, S.M. Attique Shah, Shakeel Ahmed and Syed Arshad Ali) has dismissed on Thursday (14th of March, 2024) the petition of SIC challenging the decision of ECP apropos allocation of reserved seats for women and minority.
On 4th of March, PHC held that due to non-curable defects and violation of a mandatory provision of submission of party list for reserved seats which is the requirement of law SIC was not entitled to claim quota for reserved seats.
AGP Mansoor Usman Awan has earlier pointed out since SIC did not contest the General Elections on 8th Feb, it could not be allotted the reserved seats as per the law.
It may be recalled that deprived of its iconic symbol ‘Bat’ PTI candidates fought the elections as independents with a concoction of symbols including ‘dhol’ and ‘baingun’ and joined SIC after winning the seats.
